Seriously hit by the aggressive flood in the plum period, Tonglu County of Hangzhou City has born the brunt of severe damage on vegetables, fruits, and other economic crops with a total economic loss of more than 56 million yuan so far.
Fortunately, merely 10 hours after the flood situation stabilized at 8:00 a.m. on July 10, some farmers in the disaster area received a relief fund.
Wang Jing'en, head of Jinxin Family Farm in Tonglu County, pointed out that he was scarred by the flood, losing more than 60% of the peaches this year. Despite the dilemma, Wang Jingen turned down heaps of orders to maintain his honesty reputation over the years.
"In light of the whole village where more than 2,000 acres of peaches are cultivated, the losses are even worse," Wang Jingen sighed.
On July 10, however, a batch of relief funds was delivered to the affected farmers by the Agricultural and Rural Bureau in Tonglu County. More than 2,000 households suffering from the disaster received a relief fund to various extends, according to the relevant person in charge. "We send relief funds to disaster-stricken farmers as quickly as we can to boost the confidence of farmers and business owners, in the hope that the money will help them recover production."
Statistics on the actual damage of the agricultural households and victims in Tonglu County is on the progress. Besides, a new round of relief still being finalized will be issued as soon as possible, so as to channel the suffering into effective action.
