June 9 will mark the 12th World Accreditation Day. The 2019 World Accreditation Day & Zhejiang Quality Brand towards BRI Conference themed“Certification and Accreditation: Adding Value to Supply Chains” was held in Ningbo, Zhejiang Province on June 8, 2019.
The event was hosted by the State Administration for Market Regulation, China Certification and Accreditation Administration and Zhejiang Provincial People's Government, and organized by the Ningbo Municipal People's Government, the Market Supervision Administration of Zhejiang, and China National Accreditation Service for Conformity Assessment.
As an integral part of the 1st China-CEEC Expo & International Consumer Goods Fair and the 21st China Zhejiang Investment and Trade Symposium, this is another grand event that supports China's external cooperation and exchange. Tang Jun, Deputy Director of the State Administration for Market Regulation, and Wang Wenxu, Deputy Governor of the Zhejiang Provincial People's Government, attended the event and delivered key speeches.
Tang Jun pointed out in his speech that certification and accreditation plays an important role in promoting the value of the supply chain. He introduced China's certification and accreditation achievements, indicating that China has further promoted certification and accreditation, strengthened market supervision and optimized the business environment, amid profound changes in the world structure and facing the new challenges of the global supply chain.
“We will make new contributions to promote the value of the global supply chain and support the high-quality development and high level of opening-up,” said Tang Jun. The methods mentioned by Tang included promoting the reform and innovation of the certification and accreditation with regards to the optimization of access environment, the enhancement of market supervision, the improvement of service supply and the expansion of international cooperation.
Wang Wenxu said in her speech that Zhejiang will take this event as an opportunity to create an internationally competitive quality brand and truly establish a benchmark of “Made in China”. She hopes the move will better facilitate the high-quality development of Zhejiang Province and China.
Xiao Jianhua, Chairman of the International Accreditation Forum and Director of China National Accreditation Service for Conformity Assessment, further explained the roles of certification and accreditation in improving the value of the global supply chain and promoting the international trade. Coordinating the assessment conformity worldwide is conducive to improving the efficiency of the supply chain and has a long-term beneficial effect, according to Xiao.
The outcomes of China's certification and accreditation work in promoting the value of the supply chain and the progress of the comprehensive reform of the certification and inspection of Zhejiang Province were unveiled at the event.
Members of the International Certification Alliance of Zhejiang Manufacturing issued the Zhejiang Quality Manufacturing Certificates for 12 Zhejiang manufacturers. On top of receiving 18 Zhejiang Quality Manufacturing Certificates, these enterprises also obtained 18 CE, SASO, GS, ETL and other types of international certification, covering several countries and regions such as the EU, the United States, Australia, countries along the Belt and Road, etc.
Guests visited the Zhejiang Quality Brand exhibition hall at the main exhibit area of the China-CEEC Expo after the conference. The exhibition is divided into four major blocks: publicity area, Zhejiang Manufacturing Exhibition, Lishui Shanten functional area and green lifestyle experience area, showing the province’s achievements in the branding construction of Zhejiang manufacturing and the promotion of certification and accreditation.

World Accreditation Day as a global initiative was jointly established by the International Accreditation Forum (IAF) and the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) to raise awareness of the importance of accreditation.
This year’s theme focuses on how accreditation provides added value to supply chains.
As in previous years, the day will be celebrated across the world with the hosting of major national events, seminars, and press and media coverage, to provide the opportunity to explore how accreditation can help deliver a safer world and to support businesses, government and regulators to find standards, conformity assessment and accreditation tools to support them in this goal.
China’s annual World Recognition Day activities, featuring rich forms and wider scopes, have turned into a widely recognized brand of quality promotion.
