Since the project under the Belt and Road Initiative was launched by the Overseas Engineering Department of Zhejiang Building Materials Group Co., Ltd. in Sri Lanka, Pan Xiaojian, a technical worker of the department has served as the foreman of reinforcing steel bar and tension equipment. For ten years, to ensure the quality of overseas projects, he has worked hard in his profession. He is engaged in reinforcing steel bar production and binding to erect a firm and strong main structure for various constructions. In his eyes, architectures need to be supported by a strong skeleton, just like a family needs to be supported by a man, an organization needs to be supported by professional talents and an industry needs to be developed by skillful workers and elites.

Since he joined the company in 2002, Pan Xiaojian has tried hard to learn skills. His hardworking spirit has been reflected in his performance. He has participated in the construction of nearly 20 projects within and outside Zhejiang Province, most of which are major projects. He has grown from a green hand of stressing operation to the foreman of a team, shouldered the main task of reinforcing steel bar work of the Group and won awards for several times.

After he participated in the overseas market expansion and production and construction, he has groped into the skills of reinforcing steel bar. In the daytime, he can be found at the construction site, and in the evening he studies drawings in his dorm. He has mastered all English drawings in just a few months. Through rational layout and construction, Pan has saved reinforcing steel bar for the project while guaranteeing the engineering quality.

To show talent abroad, one has to become an industrial expert at home. Able workers like Pan Xiaojian are the foundation for Chinese enterprises to expand overseas market and undertake more projects along the “Belt and Road”.
