Al Jasrah is at anchor alongside Dapu wharf in Zhoushan on June 29. Its embarkment means that the new trade route from Ningbo-Zhoushan Port to the Mediterranean area is unlocked. Since then, the Mediterranean area is included in Ningbo-Zhoushan’s “friend circle”, traders there brought closer to Zhejiang and even China. The launching is expected to boost trade volume by 24,000 teUS. 

Wang Danqing, a staff working for a container terminal company in Zhoushan, said that a favorable business environment at port gives them confidence to seek new opportunities. 

A Cargo ship at Ningbo-Zhoushan Port

To ensure smooth traffic, Zhoushan Custom highlights the dynamics of cargo ships on the new trade route and provides timely services, such as equipment examination on weekends. 

Up to now, 27 routes are run by Ningbo-Zhoushan Port, traveling to 29 countries along the Belt and Road Initiative and 46 major ports.
