1. Chinese calligraphy to write 2021 buzzwords
Chinese calligraphy enjoys a long history and contains abundant cultural meanings. At the end of 2021, buzzwords of the year were concluded and presented using Chinese calligraphy: the centenary of the founding of the CPC, common prosperity, Covid-19 pandemic prevention and control, double reduction, digital reform, Tokyo Olympic and Shenzhou manned space program. The Chinese nation has achieved a tremendous transformation from standing up, growing prosperous and heading to achieving the goal of common health.
2. Hangzhou ranks No.1 to have 200 listed companies among capital cities
Following the recent move to 600 A-share listed companies in Zhejiang, the capital market has delivered another good news - Yongan Futures has just been successfully listed on the SSE, which marks Hangzhou has become the fourth city in China after Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen to have over 200 domestic listed companies, ranking first among all provincial capital cities. At the same time, according to the Hangzhou Municipal Bureau of Local Financial Supervision, the number of A-share IPOs of Hangzhou enterprises in the first three quarters of this year surpassed that of Beijing and entered the top three in China for the first time.
3. The 35th Hangzhou Marathon postponed hosting in 2022
Given the current severe situation in the prevention and control of Covid-19 pandemic and to safeguard the safety and health of the participants in 2021 Hangzhou Marathon, the organized committee made the announcement for postponing the competition to the end of March in 2022. More details and later arrangements will be released in February 2022.
4. Huanglong Sports Center upgraded, ready for Hangzhou Asian Games
The Huanglong Sports Center, which has been located in downtown Hangzhou for 20 years, recently finished its two-year upgrading and reconstruction and is ready for the upcoming 19th Asian Games in September 2022, local media outlets reported. The center, which has a stadium, an indoor gymnasium, and a natatorium, will host football, gymnastics (competitive gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics, and trampoline) and water polo competitions for the Asian Games and track and field competitions for the Asian Para Games.
5. Wenzhou takes part in the '2022 Culture City of East Asia' online conference
The Chinese cities of Wenzhou and Jinan, Oita prefecture in Japan, and Gyeongju city in South Korea held an online video conference on Dec 21 to enhance mutual understanding, local media outlets reported. The four places had earlier this year received the 2022 Culture City of East Asia honor. During the conference, the four parties exchanged views on the progress of a variety of international exchange activities in culture, tourism, education, and sports. The cities were given priority in participating in State-level foreign cultural and tourism promotion activities.
