On social media platform Instagram, a popular photographer from South Africa called Nardus Smith often shares his works. He is a English teacher and has been living in Hangzhou for three years.
In his spare time, he likes to walk around the streets in Hangzhou, recording the moments of city through his lens. He has taken more than 2000 photos depicting Hangzhou so far. He has taken pictures of the city's architecture with a digital camera, pictures of the streets of Hangzhou on a rainy night with a film camera, and pictures of the West Lake from the air.
"I love the modern metropolis and I like the old streets and traditional ancient buildings as well. Hangzhou is a place where modern buildings and historic districts blend perfectly" He said.
Nardus has documented the ever-developing Hangzhou through his lens. He lives in the area of QianJiang Century City in Xiaoshan District, not far from Asian Games Village. He can see, from his flat balcony, the construction of the new venues and towering buildings.
With the 2022 Asian Games being around the corner, the South African boy says he will continue to take more pictures of the city to better document its ever-changing looks.
