Qidu, a fairy-tale island, is a beautiful hometown for overseas Chinese. It is like a leaf that falls on the Oujiang River. Today's Qidu has been more and more "international". Recently, Lin Guangwu and Chen Mengyao, the 2 Wenzhou overseas communication officers from Wenzhou Overseas Media Center walked into Qidu to appreciate its infinite charm.
Qidu Village Scholar Museum is the first stop in Lin Guangwu’s trip. In the museum, those displayed letters from overseas Chinese made him very touched. "When I was abroad, I kept in touch with my family by writing letters, through which I learned about the changes in my hometown. At that time, my family always repeatedly advised me to work hard in the letters. I also swore to live up to their expectations." Lin Guangwu sighed and said.
Chen Mengyao, born in Portugal, is now studying at Wenzhou University. She said that she likes Qidu very much because it is becoming more and more international. At Tager, an internet-famous restaurant in Zhangli Village, Qidu, Chen Mengyao exclaimed:
"Unexpectedly, Qidu is such a place, where people can stay away from the hustle and bustle, enjoy the tranquility and comfort of the countryside, and feel the atmosphere of a fashionable city."
At the Wenzhou Qidu Center for Finance, Technology and Culture, the 2 communication officers also listened to Ye Zhengmao, secretary of the Party Working Committee of Qidu Street, Lucheng District, talked about the blueprint for the construction of Wenzhou International Future Science & Technology Island. It is understood that Qidu Island will be built into a highland of technological innovation and a regional financial center through this project.
For this trip, Chen Mengyao specially wrote an email in Portuguese, recording what she saw and heard, then sent it to her relatives and friends overseas. "I hope they will come to Qidu and have a look at what had happened here." Chen Mengyao said.
