"The wood movable type printing is really amazing. In ancient times, the Chinese people invented such outstanding craftsmanship with high printing efficiency. Its printing effect is so great. The ancient Chinese people were really smart." Yesterday, Sumayyah uttered in an excited tone about her joyful tour in Rui’an. Recently, the overseas communication group organized by Wenzhou Overseas Media Center led Sumayyah, a foreign anchor from Mauritius, to the Chinese Wood Moveable Type Printing Exhibition Hall located in Dongyuan Village, Pingkeng Town, Ruian City, for exploring the wood moveable type printing craftsmanship that has gone through 800 years. 

It is understood that Dongyuan wood movable type printing is the only wood movable type printing technique that has been well-preserved and still in use in China. With a history of more than 800 years, it can be called a living fossil of ancient printing and is physical proof of the fact that movable type printing originated from our country. Dongyuan wood movable type printing has been listed as a world-class intangible cultural heritage. The craftsmen who carved moveable wood Chinese characters here have passed down this skill from generation to generation.
