On July 7, a day after Archaeological Ruins of Liangzhu City were successfully inscribed on the World Heritage List, a book series on Liangzhu Culture published by Zhejiang University Press made a debut at Zijingang Library of Zhejiang University. In the meantime, the university exhibition tour themed "Liangzhu Civilization Going Global" also kicked off.
Starting from Zhejiang University, the exhibition tour will make its way into universities nationwide, telling the story of Liangzhu Civilization to more people and get the public to better understand the value of Liangzhu Culture.
The series which consists of 11 volumes is the latest research outcome of the project titled "Liangzhu Ancient City Historical Site's Preparation towards Inscription on the World Heritage List and the Application and Transformation of Its Research Outcomes". It is teamwork by young and middle-aged scholars who are committed to Liangzhu archaeology at Zhejiang Institute of Cultural Relics Archaeology. They have been focusing on the archaeological discoveries and research achievements about Liangzhu Ancient City Historical Site in Yuhang District in Hangzhou City.
Fang Xiangming, one of the authors of the "Liangzhu Civilization Book Series" and Vice-chairman of Zhejiang Institute of Cultural Relics Archaeology, noted at the opening ceremony that this collection serves as a tribute to the successful application of Liangzhu Historical Site for becoming a World Intangible Heritage as well as 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China (PRC).
