​Learn about Southern Song Dynasty culture at CUZ

Mr. Bao Xiaofeng, deputy dean of the School of International Communication and Education of Communication University of Zhejiang (CUZ), gave a lecture to international students, allowing them to learn more about Chinese literature, food, and social culture in the Southern Song Dynasty. Students from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, Kazakhstan, and other countries attended this lecture.

Dean Bao’s lecture combines pictures, videos and text content, covering the eight major cuisines of China, local delicacies in Hangzhou, as well as the poetry culture, entertainment methods and lifestyles of the Southern Song Dynasty. The lecture is conducted in Chinese and English, with the purpose of allowing international students to more clearly understand the highlights and characteristics of Hangzhou culture during the Southern Song Dynasty in a multi-lingual format.

When it comes to food content, students also raised questions about the preparation methods of Jiangnan specialties such as stinky tofu and mutton noodles, and shared their feelings about Jiangnan food.

Through this lecture, international students gained a more comprehensive understanding of the history and culture of Hangzhou, the city where they are living and studying, and gained a clearer understanding of the parts of Chinese culture that have Hangzhou characteristics. These contents will help young people from different cultural backgrounds better integrate into Chinese society and spread Chinese culture.

 

This lecture is also shared through online courses.
