Stephen Demarsh comes from Canada and his wife is from Haiyan, Jiaxing, East China's Zhejiang province. 

In 2010, Demarsh came to Ningbo for work, where he got married and started his own business. In 2023, due to the love of rural life in China, he decided to stay away from the fast-paced and high-pressure life in the city and return to his wife’s hometown of Puyang village, Tongyuan town in Jiaxing.

Demarsh says that rural life not only gives him more time to spend with family and friends but also allows him to relax both physically and mentally. He enjoys riding his scooters around the village in search of his favorite coffee shop, having a cup of hot tea in the courtyard of his neighbors, and exploring organic farms with his son to enjoy the pleasure of hand-picking vegetables. The tranquility and beauty of Chinese countryside help him find a deep sense of belonging within his heart.
