Yanzhou Ancient City, located in Meicheng, Jiande, is one of the few ancient central cities in China with well-preserved streets and lanes. Yanzhou Ancient City has a history of nearly 1,800 years. It used to be the only central city between Huizhou and Hangzhou, and it was also an important post station and wharf for ancient merchants in the Qiantang River Basin. Yanzhou has a rich heritage and has ten major cultures including the Southern Song Dynasty culture, military culture, commercial port culture, poetry culture, and celebrity culture.

In the process of protection and construction of the ancient city of Yanzhou in modern times, Meicheng has protected and restored the urban pattern of the ancient city based on the characteristics of Yanzhou culture and the historical structure of the ancient city, and turned the ancient city into a living museum.
