The "A Date with China" 2022 international media tour kicks off in East China's Zhejiang province on Oct 31. The tour takes foreign media correspondents and social media influencers to experience China from the perspective of Zhejiang province, in terms of its digital reform, rural revitalization, common prosperity, etc. The event is also part of the warm-up events for the upcoming 2022 World Internet Conference Wuzhen Summit.

At the opening ceremony, Warren, a British journalist for China Daily, gave a big thumb-up to Zhejiang when delivering his own remarks. Warren indicated that he was so impressed with Zhejiang's development and its goal to become one of the global leaders in the field of those cutting-edge technologies. What's more, he learned that the number of rural and urban residents has more than doubled in the last decade and last year, Zhejiang was designated a demonstration zone for the national goal of achieving common prosperity. He said that he feels very happy that he could visit Zhejiang and get a sense for himself of Zhejiang’s plans for the future.

After the launching ceremony of the event, the tour group moved forward to the Xueshuigang Village, Tongyuan Town, where they experienced the beautiful landscape brought here by a wide range of those intelligent infrastructures. Xueshuigang Village is the first in the province to realize the shift from firewood to electricity as a primary cooking fuel for more than 590 households, which has successfully reduced firewood consumption by about 8.6 tons and emissions of sulfur oxides by 0.36 tons per year. The digital village labs consisting of several projects such as Health e-Station and intelligent agriculture are under construction. Green and clean energy has been made commercially available for industry, transportation, community, and other application scenarios.

In Qinglian Food Co., Ltd., the interview group visited a high-quality pig industry chain that integrates “germplasm R&D, intelligent breeding, green ecology, standard slaughtering, cold chain transportation, intensive processing, digital sales, brand-driven development, and integration of animal husbandry and tourism” . The members of the group praised the 10 billion yuan level of common prosperity of the whole industry chain realized by Zhejiang with "a piece of pork".

During the four-day event, members of the tour group will visit Jiaxing and Jinhua, and explore the future factories, future communities, digital villages, smart parks and other display sites, where they will learn more about Zhejiang's development and social progress.
