One of the branches of Zhejiang's local supermarket magnate Century Mart located in Binjiang District in Hangzhou, has recently achieved 5G full coverage which enables the customers to check out by the smart carts without waiting in line.

Everyone enters the market will notice a row of eye-catching orange shopping carts at the gate. A little smaller than ordinary shopping carts, these shopping carts are equipped with a display screen. "It will connect to the Wi-Fi in the supermarket," the security guard gives guidance to the customers.

As soon as one enters into the supermarket, the screen is turned on automatically. People need to scan the QR code to use the applet of the market, which requires to be registered as a member.

Then people can shop freely. The difference is that the bar code of the goods selected should be scammed on the side of the screen. Then the display will show the name of the products. When the item is placed in the shopping cart, the price will appear on the screen too.

The machine records every piece of item to be bought. If any product is not wanted by the customers, they can scan the bar code again and click "delete" on the screen.

When the shopping finishes, one can check out by himself. The membership card, Alipay and WeChat are available. After successful operation, people are to be welcomed by an ETC channel, where the invoice will be printed out as the road gate opens.

There is no obstacle in the whole process.

"5G coverage has been realized in our market, and the network is of high quality, creating a good condition for our application of intelligent shopping carts," introduced by Wei Lingxiang, Manager of Century Mart on Jianghui Road.

He revealed that the 200 smart shopping carts were launched in the first half of last year, "There are many young people in Binjiang, and they are more willingly to accept new things. In addition, the flow of people in our market is quite large. Long queuing is a common phenomenon. In that case, we decided to try smart shopping carts."

Mr. Li, who lives in the nearby neighborhood, is shopping happily with his smart shopping cart full of goods. "I have used the cart once before. It's very convenient. People don't have to stand a queue, so time is saved up."

The manager said that although the smart shopping carts have been put into operation for more than one year, there is still room for improvement. In the future, the application will be more convenient and smart.
