Nestled amid the mountains and waters, Taozhu Ancient City in Linhai, Taizhou, Zhejiang province, stands as a testament to Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) efforts to fortify coastal defenses. Today, its ancient charm remains remarkably intact, preserving the essence of a bygone era.
Wandering through the streets of Taozhu, visitors are transported back in time. The city walls, ancient houses, temples, and markets exude a sense of history, coexisting harmoniously with the vibrant local life.
The Rice Field Coffee within the Taojiangshisanzhu scenic area awaits the harvest season, as it offers a picturesque view of the golden rice fields. The scenic area got its name because the Taojiang River cuts the fields into thirteen islets called "zhu" in Chinese.

Although the rice is not yet ripe, the coffee shop remains a great place to get out of the summer heat. Sitting in the cottage amid the fields and surrounded by greenery brings a feeling of tranquility.
Market days in Taozhu reveal a different facet of the ancient city, with vendors flocking in to offer fresh produce and seafood. The old streets transform into a lively hub of activity, inviting locals and tourists alike to partake in the vibrant market culture.
