Since the start of this year's summer travel season, Wenzhou Longwan International Airport has been experiencing a steady increase in passenger numbers.

In July alone, nearly 1.15 million passengers traveled through the airport. The top 10 popular routes included Beijing, Guangzhou, Chongqing, Guiyang, Chengdu, Shenzhen, Wuhan, Kunming, Zhengzhou, and Shanghai Pudong, making up nearly 60 percent of the total passenger volume.

In response to the influx, Wenzhou airport has coordinated with airlines to adjust capacity and optimize routes. Flights to key cities have been increased and larger aircraft have been put into use. New direct flights to Hailar in Inner Mongolia autonomous region and Phuket in Thailand have been added, and direct flights to Macao have resumed.

Additionally, flights to Chengdu, Guangzhou, Taiyuan, Shenzhen, Tianjin, Changsha, and Dalian have been increased. Over 1,400 additional and optimized flights are planned for the summer season.

The direct flight from Wenzhou to Macao, which resumed on July 12, has maintained high occupancy rates. The convenience of direct flights has attracted more tourists to Macau and facilitated travel to Southeast Asia. Many travelers from Singapore and Macao have also chosen this route to visit Wenzhou, bringing more cultural diversity to the city.

Meanwhile, railway travel remains popular. From July 1 to Aug 5, Wenzhou South Railway Station handled 1.75 million passengers, a 2.96-percent increase compared to the same period in 2023. The main travel routes include Hangzhou, Jinhua, Lishui, Shanghai, Taizhou, Ningbo, Ningde, and Fuzhou.
