A homestay in Shitang town in Wenling, Taizhou, Zhejiang province, with a name that translates to "Wind from the Sea" in English, stood out in a recent homestay contest with its unique music-themed approach.
"Before opening the homestay, my friends and I often held family concerts. We wanted to build a platform that could entertain us but that we could also share with others, so we opened the homestay," said Chen Wenhui, owner of the homestay.
Music elements permeate every corner of the homestay, from the piano in the lobby to instruments like erhu and violin adorning the walls, creating an immersive experience for guests.
Each room in the homestay is named after a musical piece, with descriptions of musical instruments on the wall. The exterior walls feature introductions of musical luminaries such as Beethoven, while the restaurant walls display musical scores for various dishes, blending gastronomy with melody.
Beyond providing a musical haven, the homestay is also a platform for music-related activities. "Every year we hold at least five public benefit concerts, aiming to deepen visitors' connection to Shitang and music," said Chen.
From small gatherings to themed celebrations like activities celebrating the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day, the homestay offers a diverse range of musical experiences. Furthermore, they are currently busy planning for this year's Mid-Autumn Festival concert.
