Hangzhou is embracing spring with the Huazhao Festival, or Spring Blossom Festival, which kicks off on March 24.

The two-month event will blend culture, sports, and tourism, offering a unique seasonal experience.

The Blossom Fair at Xixi Wetland will recreate Song Dynasty (960-1279) traditions, featuring flower-themed experiences such as hairpin ceremonies, floral paintings, and spring blessings. A marketplace will showcase hanfu styling, tea tasting, and traditional crafts, integrating AI-generated aesthetics analysis to highlight Hangzhou's fusion of tradition and technology.

For the first time, the Twelve Flower Deities parade will be held at Xixi Wetland, with custom-dressed performers handing out flower seeds as a symbol of good fortune. Nearby, the FIFA World Cup Qualifier fan zone will feature interactive displays, themed installations, and travel perks, combining sports with tourism.

From March 21 to 27, special offers on hotels, attractions, and performances will be available for football fans, including discounts at Xixi Wetland and Qiandao Lake. Six curated tour routes will take visitors through World Heritage sites, local culture, and digital innovation.

A Blossom Hangzhou campaign will be held on Douyin, the Chinese version of TikTok, from March 20 to April 20, offering discounts on products sold by thousands of merchants, with a smart travel guide for top flower-viewing spots. Fans can also book exclusive Hangzhou flight passes via a live-stream sale with Loong Air.
