In accordance with the Interim Regulations on the Work of Marriage Registration (M. F. [2003] No. 127 Document issued by the Ministry of Civil Affairs) Article 28, Chapter 4, foreigners applying for marriage registration in China should submit the following documents:
1. A valid passport or other valid international travel documents of the applicant.
2. A single/non-marital status certificate issued by the notary office or the organ in the jurisdiction of the applicant's country and verified by the Chinese embassy or consulate in the said foreign country or by the embassy or consulate of the applicant's country in China; or a single/non-marital status certificate issued by the embassy or consulate of the said foreign country in China.
Relevant certificates issued by the applicant's country that has no diplomatic relations with China should be verified by both the embassy or consulate of a third country in the said foreign country and the Chinese embassy or consulate in the third country, or verified by the embassy or consulate of the third country in China. The third country should have diplomatic relations with both China and the said foreign country.
