Foreign trade enterprises in Taizhou, Zhejiang province, are participating in green energy transactions to support sustainability and improve global competitiveness.
Green electricity comes from sources with minimal or zero carbon emissions during production, such as solar, wind, biomass, and geothermal power.
At Weixing Group's Linhai Metal Products Co in Taizhou, the production of metal buttons and clothing accessories is ongoing. This year, the company plans to use 17 million kilowatt-hours of electricity, with 15 million kWh being green energy.
The company's products are sold in over 60 countries and regions. This move toward sustainable energy helps meet the evolving demands of international clients who are increasingly prioritizing suppliers with green production practices to reduce carbon footprints.
By adopting green electricity, the company aims to reduce its carbon emissions by over 90 percent compared to the previous year. This supports its overseas expansion and promotes greener, more sustainable development, according to Yu Bingqiang, the company's energy manager.
"Businesses purchasing green electricity can also benefit from carbon tariff exemptions, improving their international competitiveness," said Yang Yixin, an engineer at State Grid Linhai Power Supply Company.
State Grid Taizhou Power Supply Company reported that 10 foreign trade enterprises in Taizhou have adopted green electricity this year, expecting to use 327 million kWh.
