In a recent job fair held in Yiwu, a county-level city in Jinhua, Zhejiang province, on Feb 12, a jobseeker from India showed her Chinese and English resume, expressing interest in a foreign trade merchandiser's role.
The event, part of a series of recruitment drives organized by the Yiwu human resources and social security bureau since Spring Festival, aimed to connect employers with talent to support the post-holiday work resumption.
Considering the concentration of foreign trade enterprises, e-commerce companies, and international restaurants in several towns and subdistricts in Yiwu, an international zone was set up at the job fair to help foreign individuals seek job opportunities.
Zhuoxiang Import and Export Co highlighted the importance of Hindi-speaking staff due to its extensive business ties with India. Similarly, Otantik Restaurant, a newly established Middle Eastern eatery in Yiwu, utilized the international zone to recruit employees, especially those from the Middle East, in order to maintain its food authenticity.
Yiwu, known as the "World Supermarket", boasts trade relations with over 230 countries and regions. The city's increasing demand for foreign talent has prompted the local government to enhance recruitment efforts to cater to diverse market needs.
Efforts to streamline services for foreign nationals seeking opportunities in Yiwu have been ongoing, reflecting the city's commitment to supporting international talent.
Measures such as simplified work residency procedures, the Yijing app offering convenient services, and programs enabling international students to learn Yiwu's trade culture, aim to provide an environment that is conducive to foreigners working and flourishing in the city.
