Ceremony held to commemorate Confucius

The Confucius Memorial Ceremony was held in Quzhou, Zhejiang, on Sept 28.

More than 400 attended the ceremony to commemorate Confucius, the famous Chinese scholar and philosopher. Confucius (551-479 BC), who lived in the Spring and Autumn Period (770-476 BC), is known as the first Chinese person to start private schools and believed that every person, regardless of their social status, could benefit from a lifetime of learning.  

This year marks the 2575th birthday of Confucius.
