The Bedel Port on the China-Kyrgyzstan border began its temporary opening on Sept 3. The temporary opening will last until Sept 30. It is expected to complete its supporting infrastructure construction and achieve year-round operation by 2027.

Trucks laden with various goods crossed the border, bound for Kyrgyzstan, with nearly 70 percent of the goods from Yiwu, Jinhua, Zhejiang province. The goods mainly consist of household appliances like induction cookers, vacuum cleaners, and juicers, to meet the demand in Central Asian markets.

With the opening of the Bedel Port, the "Zhejiang (Jinhua)-Aksu (Bedel)-Kyrgyzstan" route is poised to emerge as a vital corridor for Zhejiang's goods to enter Central Asia.

“The opening of the Bedel Port is good news for our merchants. It significantly reduces the time and cost of logistics, which will undoubtedly attract a surge of customers from there to Yiwu. Furthermore, we can develop more products for the preferences of the five Central Asian countries,” said a Yiwu merchant Zhang Shidan.

"Before, our shipments to Kyrgyzstan take a long time on the road, which took about 10 days from Kazakhstan to Kyrgyzstan, so the transportation cost was very high," said Omuralieva Meerzat, Kyrgyzstan merchant in Yiwu. "After the opening of the port, the trade route to Kyrgyzstan has become very convenient."

“This year, shipments from Zhejiang to southern Xinjiang via ‘Zhejiang-Xinjiang-Kyrgyzstan’ train have increased by 30% monthly, with 60% of these goods being exported to Central Asian countries. The opening of the Bedel Port will further broaden the integrated trade channel between inland China and Xinjiang,” said Shi Zhan, an official from Jinhua.
