A delegation of the United Nations China Study Programme, comprising over 60 experts and scholars from countries including the United States, France, and Switzerland, visited Huzhou, Zhejiang province, from July 26 to 27.

They visited the Lougang water conservancy scenic area, learning about Huzhou's efforts in promoting and innovating the inheritance of traditional culture.

Lougang is an ancient water conservancy project on the eastern, southern, and western edges of Taihu Lake, which transformed waterlogged marshes into a prosperous granary over a thousand years ago. It is a significant agricultural heritage in China and is recognized as a World Heritage Irrigation Structure.

The delegation visited the Lougang Culture Exhibition Hall and Woodblock Printing Museum in Zhili town, tasting local delicacies and experiencing traditional crafts. They also exchanged gifts with villagers and made wontons with them, immersing themselves in the rich cultural heritage of the region.

Members of the delegation marveled at Huzhou's innovative practices, recognizing the harmonious coexistence of ecological preservation, cultural promotion, economic prosperity, and sustainable growth in the region.
