Wenzhou breakdancer Zeng Yingying took 7th place at the Budapest leg of the 2024 Olympic Qualifying Series on June 24, earning her a spot in the Paris Olympics with 69 points, ranking 6th overall.

The qualifying series featured events in Shanghai and Budapest and adopted a points system. Zeng's placement at 6th in Shanghai earned her 35 points. In Budapest, she advanced through the preliminaries and round-robin stages, ultimately securing her Olympic qualification.

Born in April 1993 in Cangnan county, Wenzhou, Zeng initially trained in track and field before discovering street dancing at Ningbo University. By 2019, she had achieved significant success - she was the runner-up at the CDSF Street Dance World Cup and ranked in the top 4 at the WDSF World Street Dance Championships. In 2020, she won the China Street Dance League online competition.

In September 2021, Zeng won a bronze medal at the 14th National Games, marking Zhejiang's first breakdancing medal. She joined the Chinese national breakdancing team in January 2023 and won the women's solo title at the 2023 National Breakdancing Championships. At the Hangzhou Asian Games, she finished fourth.

Zeng, now a national-level breakdancing athlete, is determined to make the most of her Olympic opportunity. "The Paris Olympics might be my only chance, and regardless of the outcome, I will give it my all," she said.

Breakdancing, the most technically challenging form of street dancing, became an official event for the 2024 Paris Olympics in 2020. The breakdancing competition of the Paris Olympics will be held on Aug 9 and 10 at Place de la Concorde and will offer two gold medals for men's and women's individual events, with 32 competitors in total, 16 men and 16 women.
