Denise Wynne, a descendant of a Lisbon Maru sinking survivor, shared an emotional narrative about her family's past and the critical role Chinese fishermen played in their survival in a touching recount of history in Zhoushan, Zhejiang, on June 17. She explained that if it were not for these brave souls, her father would not have survived, and consequently, neither she nor her children would exist today.

The story, which remained undisclosed by her father was first learned through Fang Li, a filmmaker who visited their home for an interview. 

"While I was listening, that's when I discovered the truth," she recounted. The memories were painful, filled with harrowing experiences his father preferred to forget and move past, seeking happiness rather than dwelling on the past traumas.
