Overseas PhD talents explore tech opportunities in China

A high-level talent exchange activity was held successfully in East China where a group of 15 PhD holders from overseas shared their scientific research outcomes and learned about local policies supporting sci-tech development during visits to universities and scientific institutions in the Yangtze River Delta, sparking more possibilities for cooperation.


The doctoral scholars were brought to China by INNO-APAC, a technology innovation platform based in Shanghai, through the organization of INNO-APAC China Tech Tour, which lasted from May 6 to 11. They are from esteemed institutions such as Yonsei University, RMIT and the University of Manchester, who won the tech tour opportunity from over 390 global applications.


The journey commenced with a warm welcome and opening ceremony at the INNO-APAC headquarter, then the itinerary took the participants on a captivating journey, encompassing notable destinations such as the pioneering G60 Science and Technology Innovation Corridor, the cutting-edge ZhongAn Technology Park — an industrial platform at the forefront of innovation, and renowned educational institutions like Fudan University and the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

At each stop, the overseas PhD talents actively engaged in intensive knowledge exchange, fostering meaningful connections with their Chinese counterparts. Diverse topics were discussed such as technology transfer, AI, optoelectronics, biomaterials and supply chain management.


Remarkably, five participants successfully established preliminary cooperation agreements with their Chinese partners, while three individuals secured promising opportunities to deepen their relationships through potential full-time appointments and collaborative research ventures.
