"I can chat with companions, work, and earn money, which makes me very happy. My family doesn't have to worry about me," said Xiao Zhang, a resident at a disability care center in Pujiang county, Jinhua, Zhejiang province.


Established in 2019, the center has functional areas for rehabilitation, psychological counseling, cultural and sports activities, and more. It also offers a variety of services, including rehabilitation, occupational therapy, mental health counseling, skills training, and employment guidance, to individuals with disabilities. The center currently serves over 30 individuals with disability.


Jinhua has established 168 such centers across its 149 towns and subdistricts, providing jobs for 290 people with disabilities.


Authorities have implemented monthly online job recommendations and periodic offline special job fairs for the community. To date, the city has organized 11 offline special job fairs, with 329 companies participating and offering 2,081 jobs. Thirty-three individuals with disabilities have secured employment through these platforms.

Furthermore, the city has initiated various vocational skills training programs for this group, including online short video operation training, advanced courses for blind massage therapists, and a wood carving training project.


In 2023, the city witnessed a significant increase of 1,729 employed individuals with disabilities, with 3,084 undergoing vocational skills training.
