Commemorative train marks 10th anniversary of Yiwu-Xinjiang-Europe freight trains

A set of Yiwu-Xinjiang-Europe freight train, carrying 70 standard containers of automotive parts, red wine and other goods, set off from Madrid's Abronigal Freight Station to its destination, the renowned "world supermarket" of Yiwu, China, at noon on May 8, local time in Madrid.


This train will traverse eight countries, including France and Kazakhstan, covering a total distance of 13,052 km, with an estimated arrival in Yiwu by the end of May.


Since its inaugural run on Nov 18, 2014, Yiwu-Xinjiang-Europe freight train has been in operation for a decade, marking its 10th anniversary milestone. Over the past decade, it has completed over 10,000 round trips and transported 840,000 standard containers. The operational routes have expanded from one to 24, connecting over 160 cities in more than 50 countries and regions across Europe and Asia. Initially transporting small commodities, the train now carries over 100,000 types of goods, including new energy vehicles and medical equipment.
