Hangzhou Asian Games women's 800 meters final at the Olympic Sports Centre Stadium. Zhoushan girl Rao Xinyu participated in the race and finished fourth.

In the preliminaries on October 3, Rao Xinyu advanced together with her teammate Wang Chunyu.

Rao Xinyu is a Chinese female track and field athlete. She attended Gaoting Central Primary School, Dinghai Seaside Primary School, Dinghai Fifth Middle School and Zhoushan Middle School in Daishan County. In 2010, she started track and field training and joined the provincial sports team in 2016 as a long-term training member. In September 2017, she was specially recruited and promoted to Zhoushan Middle School.

Rao Xinyu has won numerous national and international competitions, including the women's 800 metres final at the National Athletics Championships in July this year.

Rao's parents have also travelled to Hangzhou to watch their daughter compete after the preliminaries.

In the women's 800 meters final of the track and field event at the Hangzhou Asian Games, in addition to Zhoushan's Rao Xinyu placing fourth, another Chinese runner, Wang Chunyu, collected the bronze medal. Sri Lankan and Indian runners won gold and silver medals.
