2023 China International Online Literature Week opened in Hangzhou on May 27th. 


2023 China International Online Literature Week, co-organized by the China Writers Association, the People's Government of Zhejiang Province, and the Hangzhou Municipal People's Government opened at Binjiang District in Hangzhou on May 27th. 


Around 300 high-profile speakers and guests coming from all over the world attended the opening ceremony, propeling online literature to become a world phenonmon across the globe.

Report on the Communication of China Online Literature in Asia


At the opening ceremony, China Writers Association released the Report on the Communication of China Online Literature in Asia (hereinafter referred to as "The Report"), portraying the landscape and development of online literature with a focus on the current situation, characteristics, and ways of communication of China online literature in Asia.


According to "The Report", by the end of 2022, China has exported more than 16,000 online literature works overseas, with more than 150 million overseas readers, mainly covering North America and Asia. Asia accounts for about 60% of the global markets, among which Southeast Asia is the market where the communication of Chinese online literature is the best, accounting for about 40% of overseas communication.


In terms of readership and authorship, most overseas readers in Asia are under the age of 35. The "post-95s" age of group is the main group of readership, accounting for more than half of the total number of readers in Asia, and readers from Southeast Asian and South Asian countries such as Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia and India account for more than 80% of the number of Asian readers. Overseas authors of localized writing in Asia are mainly between the ages of 25 and 40, and the “post-80s” generation is the main group, with women accounting for nearly 70%.
