"Top 100 Archaeological Discoveries of China of Past Century" is unveiled, four archaeological discoveries in Zhejiang are listed
On October 18, the third China Archaeological Congress was held. During the congress, the list of “Top 100 Archaeological Discoveries of China of Past Century” is unveiled. Four archaeological discoveries in Zhejiang are on the list, namely: Pujiang Shangshan Archaeological Site, Hemudu Site, Archaeological Ruins of Liangzhu City, Archaeological site of Linan City, and Southern Song Imperial Porcelain Kiln.
Shangshan Archaeological Site is discovered in 2000 and the known oldest remains of rice farming in the world have been unearthed. The excavation at Humudu Site began in 1793, which proves that the Yangtze River Basin is also home to a brilliant ancient culture. Archaeological Ruins of Liangzhu City is the most important prehistoric site that offers authentic proof of the 5000-thousand-years history of Chinese civilization. In 1138, Southern Song has formally set its capital at Lin'an (now Hangzhou). The archaeological site of Linan City and Southern Song Imperial Porcelain Kiln is the most telling witness to this period of history.
Apsara Conference is unveiled today on October 19
Apsara Conference takes place in Yunqi Town (also known as Cloud Town) in Hangzhou from October 19 to October 22.
More than 1,500 new technological products are displayed at a 40,000 square meter technology pavilion. For example, bionic fishes that can be used for underwater rescue and salvage, marine organisms observation and underwater maintenance, apple-picking robots, liquid metal, robots playing the ping-pong are presented.

COVID-19 booster shot rollout begins in Hangzhou
Starting in October, Hangzhou, the capital city of East China's Zhejiang province, has begun offering COVID-19 booster shots to targeted groups to strengthen their immunity to the virus.
The booster shots will be made available for people aged over 18 who have already been fully vaccinated for at least six months. Priority will be given to people at high risk of infection and disease transmission or who are at risk of developing severe cases.
People intending to get an additional shot will be given the same vaccine made by the same company. If supplies of a particular vaccine run short, other vaccines of the same type but created by a different company can be used as an alternative.
Zhejiang enterprises attend Canton Fair
The 130th session of the China Import and Export Fair, also known as the Canton Fair, was launched in Guangzhou, capital of South China's Guangdong province, on Oct 15.
The latest session included the Canton Fair's first on-site exhibition since its previous three sessions were held solely online due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
An online exhibition was also held for this session of the Canton Fair as well. A total of 4,944 online exhibitors from East China's Zhejiang province hosted 11,949 online exhibition booths, accounting for 19.9 percent of the national aggregate.
A total of 1,537 on-site exhibitors from Zhejiang hosted 4,848 exhibition booths in this edition of the fair, making up 24.2 percent of the national aggregate.
This session of the Canton Fair will conclude on Oct 19. It boasts a total on-site exhibition area of 400,000 square meters, consisting of 19,181 booths in 51 zones. The total number of on-site exhibitors is 7,795. It is the world's largest on-site fair held amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
The import sections of the session are attended by 92 on-site enterprises from 15 countries and regions, including the United States and Canada, as well as about 26,000 enterprises showcasing their products and services at roughly 60,000 online booths.
