The cultural exchange along the Belt and Road countries demands both “going out” and “bringing in”.  On July 8, a lively communication programme on English teaching was held in Yuhuan City, Zhejiang Province. Renowned overseas teachers of Eötvös Loránd University from the first Belt and Road Research Center of Europe held a training class for the English teachers of middle schools of Yuhuan City.

The training originated from an agreement signed between Yuhuan and the first Belt and Road Research Center of Europe.

Earlier in June this year, under the go-between effort of Dr Ye Qiuyue, an overseas Chinese with ancestry root in Yuhuan, Director of Chinese Relationship Department of Eötvös Loránd University and Deputy Director of the Belt and Road Research Center, a cooperation agreement was officially signed by the Education Bureau of Yuhuan City, Yuhuan Further Education School for Teachers and the Belt and Road Research Center of the university.

According to the agreement, the center will dispatch experts to Yuhuan regularly to offer normalized training to improve the comprehensive qualities of English teachers of middle schools, foster the teaching and research capabilities and cultivate in teachers an international vision.

The training mainly focused on teaching methods, vocabulary and culture.

In the past three years, 31 teachers (headmasters) from Yuhuan have participated in overseas research tours and 15 teachers (headmasters) have made academic visits to foreign countries, accumulating experience for “going out”. The cooperation with Eötvös Loránd University is a helpful exploration of“bringing in”.

It was reported that the center was established in October 2016 as the first foreign organization specialized in BRI research. It has set up a Silk Road Research Team which focuses on the researches of politics, economy and the culture of the countries along the Silk Road.
