The CCTV documentary 'Aerial China', which shows China from a bird’s-eye perspective, became an immediate hit after its debut in 2017. Its second season, aired upon 2019 Two Sessions, will continue to depict beautiful landscapes around the country and resonate the feelings of people at home and abroad. This epic series offers fascinating glimpses of the nation's most treasured landmarks, all seen from breathtaking heights.
The new season consists of seven episodes with each lasting 50 minutes, covering six provinces and an autonomous region, namely, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Fujian, Guangdong, Sichuan, Gansu and Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. It took the crew one year to finish the second season with 12 helicopters and 70 drones. The total distance was almost 200,000 kilometers!
Zhejiang Province showed up in the first episode, March 3, 2019. In the spectacular overview of the historically significant ‘Land of Fish and Rice’, the camera takes the audience to soar over crisscrossed ancient water systems, scattering islands on the coast of East China Sea and eco-friendly modern cities around Zhejiang. ‘Lucid waters and lush mountains’ speak for themselves in the episode.
From the Leifeng Pagoda and Baochu Pagoda by Hangzhou’s West Lake that tell the legends of the city to the bustling Ningbo Zhoushan Port and Hangzhou Bay that reveals the awe-inspiring economic achievements, the episode explores the sites, the milestones, and the growth drivers behind Zhejiang’s miracle.
The work is not just about hauntingly beautiful scenery. Moreover, it's about the environment that nurtured the minds and spirits of Chinese people.
