"I want this paint bucket and mineral water bottle." "I want to make the staff!" "I want to draw small flowers and grass!" On the morning of August 22, in Qingfeng Community, Wutong Street, Tongxiang Shi, the volunteer team "Mengxiaobei" composed of children made a "Starlight Wall" for garbage classification of recyclable materials to publicize the new regulations for garbage classification.
Previously, Qingfeng Community collected recyclables such as paint buckets and plastic bottles from residents by exchanging green plants. As soon as Mengxiaobei got the brushes and recyclables, they began to create enthusiastically. They painted the "goldfish bowl” on the paint bucket and "bonsai" on the waste window frame, and they made the "smiling face" composed of waste washbasins and pipes. A large number of recyclable materials have turned into valuable works, and they are affixed on the "Star Wall".
"We hope that through this way, children can know that garbage can be useful, and it is very important to classify garbage correctly," said community worker Shen Tingting.
On September 1, Jiaxing Domestic Waste Classification Management Regulations will be officially implemented, and Tongxiang's domestic waste classification will soon be compulsory. To promote the "soft landing" of the new regulations, Wutong Street conducts activities such as "Making Star Wall” and "Cleaning Our Community" to improve people’s awareness of garbage classification.
