As a sub-venue of the HAG 2022, Wenzhou will hold football and dragon boat sports.

Wenzhou Municipal People’s Government has established a preparatory group for Wenzhou sub-venue of HAG 2022, and formulated the Construction Plan for the Venue of the 19th Asian Games 2022 in Wenzhou Sub-Venue. Now the construction of the venue is proceeding steadily. Starting from June last year, the construction of Wenzhou Olympic Sports Center Stadium (WOSC Stadium) runs smoothly. Ouhai Dragon Boat Sports Base was launched October 29 last year, two months ahead of the schedule. The four training venues for the football group matches have been settled.

WOSC Stadium and Wenzhou Sports Center Stadium (WSC Stadium) will claim the football group matches for the event. WSC Stadium, located in the downtown of Wenzhou, covers a land area of 58,300 square meters. Fully built in 1997, it is completely renovated in 2016. The stadium provides 14,862 seats, with plastic track and football field lawn that live up to international standards.

Situated in Yongzhong Sub-District in Longwan District, the main stadium project of Wenzhou Olympic Sports Center, occupies an area of about 45,000 square meters with a total investment of about 1 billion yuan. It will be qualified to hold national comprehensive sports events, international single events and international business competitions after the completion of Phase II (stadium) project of WOSC.

Located in the South Unit of Ouhai Central Area, the Dragon Boat Base will bear the Dragon Boat Race for the HAG 2022. The project will be completed in October 2020.

As a major traditional sport in Wenzhou, dragon boat race is a historitcal event full of regional features. When it comes to dragon boat race, Wenzhou would first come to people’s minds. The city was named as "Famous City of Dragon Boat Race in China" by the General Administration of Sport of China in 2012. Wenzhou has successively undertaken many Chinese dragon boat races in recent years and its dragon boat team won medals in international and domestic dragon boat races.
