International residents of Jimingshan community in Yiwu, Jinhua, Zhejiang province, were invited to a cultural event in Jincun village on Aug 21 to experience the process of making candied dates.


At the event, local residents explained the history and cultural significance of candied dates in the village and showcased the traditional techniques involved in making them.


Under the guidance of locals, international participants eagerly engaged in the process, from picking, slicing, steaming with sugar, to finally drying, with joy and a sense of accomplishment. As they learned the techniques, they also shared their cultural customs, creating a lively and warm atmosphere.


A participant from Egypt expressed excitement about the activity, not only learning the traditional techniques but also gaining a deeper understanding of traditional Chinese culture and customs.


A responsible person of Jimingshan community said that they plan to organize more cultural exchange activities to provide opportunities for mutual understanding and learning between Chinese and international residents, allowing traditional culture to radiate new vitality in the modern society.
