He Hongbing, a master of traditional Chinese craftsmanship and inheritor of Dongyang woodcarving, recently shared on social media that the trophies he crafted for this year's Asian International Youth Film Festival were well-received by the stars.

The fourth edition of the festival held its awards ceremony in Macau, where several prestigious awards were presented. He Hongbing's unique Golden Orchid Award trophy was a highlight.

Made of golden nanmu wood, the elongated, streamlined trophy features a golden orchid carved using Dongyang woodcarving's relief technique.

This is the second time He Hongbing has crafted trophies for the festival. He previously created the trophies for the last edition, also using Dongyang woodcarving.

He Hongbing feels a special connection with the festival. Two years ago, he was honored as "Artisan of the Year" in Beijing, where he was the only master craftsman among the awardees. The festival organizers approached him to create the Golden Orchid Award trophy, marking the debut of Dongyang woodcarving at the festival.

He Hongbing's father, He Fuli, is also a master craftsman. The father-son duo has collaborated on numerous occasions, including restoring artifacts at the Forbidden City.

He Hongbing believes that while preserving tradition, Dongyang woodcarving must also innovate to appeal to younger generations and ensure its vitality.
