Quzhou children's author Mao promotes reading for young minds

In anticipation of upcoming World Book and Copyright Day, renowned Chinese children's authors Mao Lulu and Tang Tang delivered an inspiring lecture on April 9 at the Myddelton College Jinhua, an private international school located in Jinhua, East China's Zhejiang province.


The lecture, themed on writing, was part of Myddelton's professional choices and career planning lecture series.


Mao is an author of children's books from Quzhou, Zhejiang, and Tang Tang, the pen name of Tang Hongying, is a native of Jinhua. As celebrated children's authors, their works are highly popular among youngsters.

At the event, the two authors also joined forces with Myddelton's principal John Higgs and teacher Daniel Haws to promote reading among more young students through online videos.


Mao emphasized reading can allow people to appreciate the beauty of everyday life and to find that our world is so beautiful.


"Reading is an important skill in life. You will learn so much by reading, and you will gain so much from it," said Higgs.


World Book and Copyright Day, established by UNESCO in 1995, aims to encourage more people to engage in reading and writing while advocating respect for and protection of intellectual property.
