Lishui in East China's Zhejiang province has entered its prime planting season for jiaobai, namely wild rice stems.
The wild rice stem, also known as Zizania latifolia, is an aquatic and medicinal plant with a long history of development in China and in the East Asian region. It's also a unique delicacy in China.
At an agricultural base in Lingtou village in Lingtou township – situated in Qingyuan county, Lishui – farmers were busy planting wild rice stems on April 8. Some were transplanting seedlings, while others were planting them, creating a bustling scene of agricultural activity.
In recent years, Lingtou township has been developing a "wild rice stem-duck symbiosis" ecological farming model, effectively boosting the development of the wild rice stem industry in the region.
