Recently, Tim, a friend from the United States, visited the Changdatu Photovoltaic Power Station of Zhejiang Datang International Renewable Power Co., Ltd. in Gaotang Island Township, Xiangshan County, Ningbo City. The "green miracle" on this tidal flat was truly astonishing.

As China's first large - scale coastal intertidal zone tidal flat photovoltaic project, the Changdatu Photovoltaic Power Station is located at 121.75° east longitude and 29.13° north latitude. It officially started generating electricity on June 29, 2021. It is equipped with 640,000 450Wp monocrystalline silicon photovoltaic panels, with an installed capacity of 300MWp. The annual power generation can meet the electricity needs of 110,000 households for a whole year, which is equivalent to saving 90,000 tons of standard coal and reducing 240,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions each year. Its ecological benefits are remarkable, just like planting 30,000 trees.

During the project construction, the team faced numerous challenges. However, by virtue of breakthroughs in the "five new technologies" of new technologies, new products, new business forms, new models, and new channels, and adopting the construction strategy of "digging water channels, building platforms, gathering water into lakes, and improving equipment", they successfully overcame the difficulties. A series of construction equipment they developed solved the transportation and installation problems of equipment and materials, and significantly improved the piling efficiency. The innovatively designed permeable steel grating wave - dissipation wall effectively withstood the impact of typhoons on photovoltaic components, enabling the project to go from groundbreaking to grid - connected power generation in just 9 months, creating a remarkable story in the industry.

The completion of the project not only achieved the green transformation of energy but also brought significant ecological and economic benefits. The photovoltaic panels above the power station generate electricity, while the area below has become a tidal - flat fishing area where villagers can harvest seafood such as razor clams and crabs. In the two years since it was connected to the grid, a large amount of clean energy has been transmitted to the power grid, strongly promoting the realization of Zhejiang Province's "Dual Carbon" goals. At the same time, the marine ecology of the tidal flat area has been restored, biodiversity has been recovered, and the composite utilization of space has created employment opportunities for villagers and increased their incomes. Nowadays, it has become a distinctive industrial and science - popularization tourism base, achieving an organic integration of social, economic, and ecological benefits.

The Datang Zhejiang Xiangshan Changdatu Photovoltaic Project has always adhered to the principle of symbiotic development between enterprise growth and ecological protection. At present, it has become a green business card of Datang Zhejiang. The green electricity it transmits has helped many enterprises in the province become green - power enterprises. Its construction plan has even become a benchmark in the new energy industry, providing valuable experience for subsequent photovoltaic projects.
