The Huangyan Jiufeng Trail Master Challenge kicked off at Jiufeng Mountain in Huangyan district, Taizhou, Zhejiang province, on March 9.


Renowned as a premier event for short-distance (20-35 kilometers) off-road races in China, the competition attracted over 900 participants across the country. The challenging course started in Jiufeng Park and wound through several locations including Yaoshan village and Changle Temple, across a 29.3-kilometer distance and 2,079 meters of cumulative elevation gains.


Meng Guangfu, a formidable off-road contender, blazed across the finish line at 2 hr 35 min 16 sec, defending his championship. Later, Yao Miao clinched victory in the women's category with a time of 3:3:39.


As a regular participant, Meng praised the event's organization, saying, "From pre-race promotions to on-course support and safeguards as well as the dedication of volunteers, they all get better year after year. So I come to the race every year."


Beyond the thrilling competition, participants indulged in local delicacies, enhancing their experience in Huangyan. The district is set to host a series of upcoming events, including a road cycling race, a basketball competition, and the 2025 Taizhou Marathon, which will drive urban development through sports and competitions.
