Jiaxing, East China's Zhejiang province, has been transformed into a dazzling wonderland of lanterns and lights. A myriad of diverse festivities have been arranged, beckoning people to immerse themselves in the joy of Lantern Festival.


Nanhu district


From Spring Festival to Lantern Festival, Nanhu Tiandi Plaza in Nanhu district has been illuminated by nearly 1,000 colorful fish-shaped lanterns. This enchanting display lights up the city's night sky, getting people into the festive spirit and drawing crowds to admire the artistry and craftsmanship.

In Xincheng town, Xiuzhou district, Jiaxing, the Aoshan Lantern Festival can be traced back to the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911). Since 1999, it has evolved into a prominent folk culture festival, attracting visitors from near and far to witness the display of lanterns and partake in traditional blessing ceremonies.


This year, on the evening of Feb 11, Penglai Park in Xincheng town will host a groundbreaking Kongming Lantern UAV show, combining traditional lanterns with cutting-edge drone technology. This innovative fusion promises a breathtaking visual spectacle and marks a first for Jiaxing.

Wuzhen Scenic Area in Tongxiang, a county-level city in Jiaxing, is holding the Wuzhen Water Lantern Festival, showcasing Zigong Lanterns from West China's Sichuan province and the technological prowess of Wuzhen, the permanent site of the World Internet Conference.


Jiashan county


Jiashan county welcomes Lantern Festival with Wangmantian fish-shaped lanterns, a cultural treasure with over 600 years of history from Huangshan, Anhui province. A lively fish-shaped lantern parade will take place in the Yunlan Bay Hot Spring Scenic Area, as a way to pray for a prosperous new year.


Meanwhile, the Biyun Flower Sea Scenic Area is hosting a Spring Festival flower exhibition, featuring tens of thousands of vibrant blooms, offering auspicious blessings to visitors.


Haiyan county


In Haining county, the Qiyuan Scenic Area and Qiyuan Commercial Street are alive with a rolling lantern performance, a captivating display of intangible cultural heritage. Visitors are encouraged to capture photos with the rolling lantern installations, creating lasting memories of this unique tradition.


Pinghu city


The Nanhetou Historical and Cultural Block in Pinghu, a county-level city in Jiaxing, is the perfect destination for an authentic Lantern Festival experience, featuring traditional activities like guessing lantern riddles and making glutinous rice balls.
