Xinwan subdistrict in the Qiantang district of Hangzhou – capital of East China's Zhejiang province – recently hosted a great Spring Festival gala, which really grabbed the limelight.
The evening opened with a performance of Snake Dance: A New Qiantang Era, followed by other renditions like Reclamation Stories, Expedition and Together for a Shared Future – celebrating rural life, local heritage and cultural vitality.
During the intermission, Jianhua village Party Secretary Wang Tianguo shared the village's journey towards common prosperity, highlighting the establishment of a profit-driven, cost-efficient village enterprise in 2022.
"This show was meaningful and creative, connecting directly to our lives. I hope for more events like this – they make our days even better!" said a local resident surnamed Zhang.
In recent years, Xinwan subdistrict has developed its own special cultural brand, enriching the lives of folks through accessible and heartfelt cultural programs.
In 2024, it organized over 10 Month-End Theater events, including themes like the Lantern Festival fairs and Yueju Opera Festivals. The initiatives, benefiting over 6,000 people, are said to have transformed the Month-End Theater into a much-loved cultural hub for showcasing talent, fostering creativity and enriching the community.
