The inaugural Global Cross-border Logistics Summit and the Anniversary Event of the Yiwu Cross-border Logistics Association took place in Yiwu county-level city in Jinhua, Zhejiang province, on April 8.
Over 500 representatives from prominent global shipping companies, cross-border e-commerce platforms, and logistics firms attended the event.
The surge in new business models like cross-border e-commerce has placed greater demands on the logistics sector. Cross-border logistics, adapting to the trends of online international trade and digitalization, offers advantages such as flexible customs clearance and stable timeliness, making it a vital component of Yiwu's logistics industry.
Established last year, the Yiwu Cross-border Logistics Association now boasts 230 members, serving over 1,000 cross-border logistics enterprises in Yiwu and operating 21 branch offices globally.
"Yiwu cross-border logistics enterprises export about 300,000 TEUs annually, serving more than 1 million enterprises," said Li Xueyuan, president of the association. He highlighted the significant role of the association in fostering industry development, facilitating communication between government bodies and member enterprises, and promoting resource sharing and innovation within the sector.
During the event, strategic cooperation agreements were signed between the association and major shipping companies like COSCO Shipping. "We aim to secure more shipping resources for Yiwu's enterprises, expand export channels, and reduce logistics costs," Li added.
The event also marked the launch of the Yiwu "AI + Logistics Training" program, with Alibaba's international platform representatives conducting the first training session.
