The winter sports equipment exports of Zhejiang province are on the rise again as the global popularity of winter sports continues to surge.

Hangzhou Customs reported that the province's ice and snow equipment exports hit 610 million yuan ($83.49 million) last year, representing a hefty 13.4 percent increase year-on-year.

Following the conclusion of the Spring Festival holiday, Zhejiang Yuanjing Sports Goods Co, located in Taizhou in the province, is operating at full capacity with workers diligently assembling ski goggles, helmets, and other winter sports gear.

"We started production on Feb 5. The skiing season in Europe kicks off in October, so early production and shipment are crucial to meeting sales deadlines," explained Chen Mingchun, the company's general manager assistant.

The first half of the year serves as the peak season for exporting winter sports equipment, with current orders scheduled through June.

The company, a pioneer in sports product research and development, primarily exports ski goggles and sports helmets to Europe and North America. In 2024, the company's export volume of ski goggles reached 50 million yuan, reflecting a notable 10 percent growth year-on-year.

The growth in exports can attributed to the company's strategic approach. Chen emphasized that consumers are increasingly seeking products with enhanced features and superior quality. To meet these demands, the company is continuously working on product research and upgrades.
