Zhejiang province reported its strong commercial momentum in 2024 at a provincial conference on Jan 22.


Total retail sales reached 3.4 trillion yuan ($469.62 billion), up 4 percent year-on-year.


Foreign trade crossed 5 trillion yuan for the first time, hitting 5.3 trillion yuan, a 7.4 percent increase. Exports rose 9.5 percent to 3.9 trillion yuan, outpacing national growth.


Zhejiang attracted $15.27 billion in actual foreign investment, moving up to third nationwide, one spot higher than in 2023.


Over 2,000 promotional events drove more than 300 billion yuan in spending. The province also added 124 China Time-Honored Brands and 560 Zhejiang Time-Honored Brands to its roster.


Zhejiang established 20 overseas trade zones and hosted trade cooperation events in Hungary and Egypt, signing 37 contracts worth $1.185 billion.
