The Rice-Frog Symbiosis Agricultural Park in Huzhou, Zhejiang province, recently welcomed harvest season, with golden rice swaying in the wind and black-spotted frogs croaking in the field.

Amid the flourishing rice crops at the Youyou Family Farm in Nanxun district, workers are busy harvesting the black-spotted frogs to sell on the market.

Under the rice-frog symbiosis model, the black-spotted frogs put into the rice fields feed on insects, thus eliminating the need for pesticides. Moreover, the frogs' excrement serves as natural organic fertilizer to enhance soil fertility, ensuring a conducive environment for rice growth.

In recent years, the Youyou Family Farm has been collaborating with research institutions including Zhejiang University to receive technical guidance. It has now mastered a complete set of techniques for breeding frogs.

The farm also extended its support to help farmers in other areas in Zhejiang to develop the rice-frog symbiosis system.
