The 81404 train departed from Jiaxing East Railway Station on June 24, heading to Shanghai Yangshan Port with 100 containers of export goods. This marked the two-year anniversary of Jiaxing's first sea-rail intermodal container train, which has become a vital logistics channel for both domestic and international trade since its inaugural journey on June 25, 2022.

Over the past two years, Jiaxing-made products have traveled by rail and sea to destinations worldwide. The integration of railway and port networks has significantly boosted foreign trade, showcasing a more vibrant and open Jiaxing.

Before sea-rail intermodal transport, Jiaxing primarily relied on road transport for container logistics. The fragmented nature of the domestic road transport market and the challenges of full-truckload transport highlighted the need for a more efficient solution. In collaboration with various organizations, the sea-rail intermodal container train service was launched, providing a new channel for enterprises.

COSCO Shipping Lines Co Ltd, has worked with Jiaxing in a key organizing role to develop this transport channel, supporting foreign trade exports. The sea-rail intermodal train offers a more time-efficient and cost-effective option compared to road transport for exporting goods.

Today, Jiaxing's sea-rail intermodal business is thriving, with increasing cargo aggregation capacity and expanding service coverage. Over the past two years, 450 trains have transported 36,340 TEUs, with export goods valued at over 8 billion yuan ($1.1 billion). This year, the service aims to handle 35,000 TEUs, continuing its strong growth momentum.
