In 2022, the total output of the automobile industry in Zhejiang Province reached 1,593,700, with a year-on-year growth of 16.9%. The total output value of the industry above the designated size in the automobile industry exceeded 700 billion yuan for the first time, reaching 715.51 billion yuan. The automobile industry becomes the fifth largest industry in Zhejiang province.

Zhejiang has a relatively complete automobile industry chain. More than 2,600 automobile manufacturing enterprises above the designated size have basically realized the full coverage of parts and components, and realized the reasonable distribution from the core auto parts to the vehicle enterprises.

Around the automobile industry, Zhejiang Province has achieved a differentiated layout. Take Tongxiang County as an example, the workshop of Triangle Motors, producing new energy vehicles; In the production workshop of Shuanghuan Driveline (Jiaxing) Co.,Ltd., the gear in the gearbox of new energy vehicles are being produced at the rate of 3000 sets per day. Fourteen local key enterprises of new energy vehicles have formed an industrial chain that matches each other, and supply and demand resources of upstream and downstream enterprises are precisely matched.

New energy vehicles have become the biggest highlight of the Zhejiang automobile industry. Last year, the production and sales of new energy vehicles in Zhejiang completed 592,600 and 559,300, with year-on-year growth of 186.2% and 172.6% respectively. Among them, Geely Holding Group accelerated its electrification transformation, produced 271,000 new energy vehicles in Zhejiang throughout the year, and was successfully shortlisted for the national quality benchmark list in 2022. Hozon New Energy Automobile Co., Ltd became the first enterprise whose annual delivery exceeded 150,000 units and won the annual sales championship. The annual deliveries of Leapmotor cars reached 11,200, up 154% year-on-year.

The status of Zhejiang's new energy automobile industry in China has been further promoted. In 2022, the production and sales volume of new energy vehicles in Zhejiang accounted for 8.4% and 8.1% of the national total, respectively, 2.6 and 2.3 percentage points higher than that in 2021.

At the same time, the export momentum of new energy vehicles is rapid. Last year, Zhejiang exported 78,000 new energy vehicles, a year-on-year growth of 200.9%, 80 percentage points higher than the national growth in the same period. Last September, the T03 from Zero Motor was officially exported to Israel. This is the first export model, that has passed the EU vehicle form certification, and can be officially registered in all EU countries.

A large number of investment has further consolidated the advantages of the Zhejiang automobile industry cluster. Of the 605 major manufacturing investment projects in Zhejiang last year, more than 100 were related to the new energy vehicle industry. Last year, among the top 11 projects invested by individual manufacturing industries at the municipal level in Zhejiang province, five were related to the automobile industry.
